VAGABOND 6.2 DELUXE CUDDY CAB
Seafarer Vagabond 6.2
The Seafarer Vagabond 6.2m is a further development on a brilliant new hull, introduced initially as a centre console in the form of the Venom.

In character this boat is a big brother to the enormously successful 5.99m Victory, but to assume that this is just a slightly longer Victory would be a big mistake. At 6.2 x 2.4m, the Vagabond is significantly bigger in terms of interior work space, and the additional rough water performance available from this hull is quite spectacular.
Available with either twin or single engine transom, the hull will accept single engines from 150 to 225hp in single engine configuration, or twins from 70 to 115hp . Plenty of room on board for fishing
Yes, that's right, the twin 70hp option is not a mistake in this copy. Tested with twin 90hp Johnson Ocean Runners, with four men on board and 200 litres of fuel in the tank, top speed on brand new and tight motors was over 80 km/ph. With just one engine operating, the boat can be easily brought up onto plane from a dead stop, and top speed on a single is a brisk 51.5 km/ph. The hull will run well with single or twin engines
Clearly the hull will run well with twin 70hp outboards, but with twin 90 or 115hp on the back considerable economics in fuel consumption can be achieved with engines running at only 3500 to 4000 rpm to achieve very fast cruise speeds. A single 175hp OMC outboard would be ideal for this hull. Set up with twin 90 Johnsons

Once again, the hull extension through into the pod base enables the hull to float considerable weights without having the chines dip below the water line. This contributes to the craft's extraordinary ability to run well in the low rev range.

As the Venom stunned every marine industry journalist who drove it, so the Vagabond continues that tradition. In fact, if anything, the Vagabond is superior in terms of being able to rise to plane at low revs with no bow high attitude at all, and the additional weight forward provided by the cabin and its furnishings encourages the boat to run hard and flat at sea in choppy conditions.

The new styling makes the Vagabond the sleekest Seafarer afloat

In very rough conditions the Vagabond is exceptional, and all those long range operators who have been waiting for Seafarer to produce a bigger hull will be very happy with what they have here. It has been so well received, in fact, over 20 were on order before the prototype pictured here had completed its factory trials, and a number of those have gone to official marine departments around the country.

This is the first of the Seafarer models to feature generally softer lines above deck, giving the craft an exceptionally streamlined look for such a big hull. The list of standard inclusions is much greater than general industry standards, and the options list contains 26 items, plus all the other options available in the 10 pages of Seafarer regular options list.

The factory boat pictured on these pages was set up with most of the options Seafarer customers have been asking for in other models, and there's plenty of space left for lots more.

Up front you have a solid bowsprit, first class stainless steel deck hardware and an oversized rope locker. Access forward is either by way of a big foredeck hatch, or around a cabin sidewalk, which is the quick way in calm conditions. The foredeck and cabin front are treated with aggressive non-skid to ensure safe footing when working your ground tackle.

The dash is ergonomically designed for easy use
The complex dash moulding is designed to put every control in direct line of sight and immediately to hand.
The new five pieces forward screen is stylish, but you will also note the strength of the supports, grab rail and frame. It is a very solid piece of gear. The Bimini and Targa are also a new design, and like the screen, very strong. You will love the detailing in this unit, with mounting space for GPS and radio aerials on a frame that will not flex and rattle.

The cabin is big for a cuddy, with Seafarer's usual high standard of cushions for comfort, with Seafarer's usual high standard of cushions for comfort, covering side storage and a big bin in the head of the vee where a second set of ground tackle can be stored. Large side shelves that will hold full sized life jackets help organise the area, and as is the case with the factory boat, you can mount delicate radios and stereo gear in here out of harm's way.

The foot well is extra large and will look after tackle boxes, ice and fish boxes when underway.
OPtional storage bins provide perfect storage / seating arrangments
Optional storage bins with padded lids provide a perfect seating/storage arrangement.
The helm area is our best yet. Either side of the heavy duty wheel with hydraulic steering you will find custom switch panels clearly labeled, and a set of electric fuel primers. Above that is space to thro-mount something like a Lowrance X-70 or LMS350. On the next level you have a full set of OMC gauges in grey and white, which are imported exclusively for Seafarer. A little higher again you get a compass, directly under your normal line of sight. A special binnacle mounting module is set to the right so the twin throttles are precisely where they should be in relation to the wheel. Steering this big boat is a breeze
Twin ram hydraulic steering make steering this big boat a breeze
Immediately to port of the helm module is a large, flat area of potential mounting space, with sufficient screen clearance to mount further electronics such as CRT display radar and electronic GPS/mapping units. To the left again is a large top-mounted dash locker for all your personal gear, sunglasses and folded charts.

Seating is optional with pedestal seats standard, but the boat pictured features the popular fore and aft adjustable buckets mounted on storage boxes with rear seat cushions.
The side pockets with rod racking are huge and fully lined. Cockpit side rails are recessed.
Split drop down lounge is one of the seating options
Split drop-down lounge is just one of a number of seating options
Attention to detail is evident in the stern treatment where a drop-down bench seat with padded coaming backrest make the cockpit flexible for fishing or socializing. Below, batteries and oil bottles are out of sight but accessible, and you can add the optional deck fillers for the oil bottles to make life even easier.

Two large storage wells are located in the aft deck, with the option of fitting larger wells when plumbed live bait wells are required. When you get a chance to look for yourself, just check the wiring, cable storage and general routing of various lines under the rear deck to see how much attention has been given to even the parts you don't normally see.
Large bunk area
That's a very large bunk area for a cuddy cabin
The 6.2m Vagabond is a boat that has greatness stamped all over it. All it will take for you to agree with that is just one ride, and try to do it on a rough day.
